You can’t even set down at a coffee shop any more without race being a factor in starting off your morning. Starbuck’s initially announced that their employees would engage customers in discussions about race relations in America today. And yes, we need such a discussion. But over morning coffee? Starbuck’s is now postponing this new agenda a bit but CEO Howard Schultz says she is committed to kick off this new focus soon. I have visited with Schultz and believe he is genuinely committed to improving race relations in America that certainly is needed and a noble cause. He really stirred up his coffee mix, however, by bringing race into the morning brew.
